چکیده

In combination with activated sludge process and biomembrance process, based on the principle of denitrifying dephosphatation, A2ON processes for biphase sequencing batch reactor biological nutrient removal (BNR) treatment have been developed, with an emphasis on the effects of the ratio of COD to TN (COD/TN) variations on the BNR treatment. Results indicated that the process possessed stable effects, showed strong flexibility for water quality, could attenuate the aerobic requirement and decrease the competition of denitrifying and dephosphation for carbon source to a greater degree, and meanwhile guaranteed that nitrifying bacteria about a generation time could grow stably.

Effect of the C:N:P ratio on the denitrifying dephosphatation in a sequencing batch biofilm reactor (SBBR).

A series of investigations were conducted using sequencing batch biofilm reactor (SBBR) to explore the influence of C:N:P ratio on biological dephosphatation including the denitrifying dephosphatation and the denitrification process. Biomass in the reactor occurred mainly in the form of a biofilm attached to completely submerged disks. Acetic acid was used as the source of organic carbon. C:N:P...

Evaluating the efficiency of carbon utilisation via bioenergetics between biological aerobic and denitrifying phosphorus removal systems

There are two biological systems available for removing phosphorus from waste water, conventional phosphorus removal (CPR) and denitrifying phosphorus removal (DPR) systems, and each is characterized by the type of sludge used in the process. In this study, we compared the characteristics associated with the efficiency of carbon utilization between CPR and DPR sludge using acetate as a carbon s...

Denitrifying Bioreactors Resist Disturbance from Fluctuating Water Levels

Nitrate can be removed from wastewater streams, including subsurface agricultural drainage systems, using woodchip bioreactors to promote microbial denitrification. However, the variations in water flow in these systems could make reliable performance from this microbially-mediated process a challenge. In the current work, the effects of fluctuating water levels on nitrate removal, denitrifying...

Phosphorus Removal and Recovery from Swine Waste: Results of Pretreatment with an Anaerobic Sequencing Batch Reactor

An approach is presented for the on-site treatment of diluted swine waste. The approach (1) incorporates anaerobic digestion with an anaerobic sequencing batch reactor (ASBR) to stabilize waste, reduce odor, and reduce solids and organic compounds, while producing biogas; (2) increases the ortho-phosphate concentration of the anaerobic digester effluent by enhanced biological phosphorus removal...

Effect of dissolved oxygen concentration on nitrate removal from groundwater using a denitrifying submerged filter.

A unidirectional submerged filter system was employed to purify groundwater contaminated with nitrate by biological denitrification. The influence of the concentration of dissolved oxygen (DO) in the process was tested using ethanol, methanol and sucrose as carbon sources. Inorganic-nitrogen removal, growth of the biofilm, platable denitrifying bacteria and nitrate reducing bacteria in biofilm ...
